Our story
Our story from day one has been about stepping up for our fellow community members. That commitment still stands today.

Our roots run deep
We were formed by local farmers to help support their local community over 80 years ago. Fast forward to today, and their original idea of supporting your neighbours to reach their goals and build financial strength still influences every decision we make.

Growing with our local community
A group of farmers had the initiative to start a financial cooperative in the spring of 1941 to help pay for necessities like seeds and hay.
The first meeting had 14 members in attendance. From those beginnings, our membership and area have grown to new heights.

Part of the community
We are here to support our neighbours and business owners so that we all continue to grow together.

Business loans with impact
Our approach to business lending is founded on local decision-making paired with competitive rates. It’s how we help to grow local businesses—and strengthen local communities.

Funding community projects
Through the Community Support Fund, we are committed to benefiting the greatest number of people possible, with a focus on youth, community and education.

Staff who care
We don’t like to toot our own horn, but our people make BVCU. They define us by showing up and expressing their cooperative values every day, not only through providing great service but also through volunteering and generally being awesome.
We’re all about our members
Success for us is seeing our members grow in life or their business.

Building stronger, healthier local communities
From supporting local families to upgrading local ski trails, we’re proud of our active role in the community. We continue to give support through funds and volunteering to events and projects that have impact in our community.

We are all part of the same community. Being a member of your local credit union means your money stays in the community to benefit everyone. Through patronage, everyone shares in our success.
