We set aside a portion of our income to support community projects. Learn how to apply for funding for your community project.
About the Community Support Fund
Through the Community Support Fund, we are committed to benefiting the greatest number of people possible, with a focus on youth, community and education.
We have four Community Support Committees, one in each of the communities we serve. Each committee consists of staff, board representatives and local members, and meets monthly to review applications.
Our mandate is to support community, youth, and education. Please contact your local branch for more information, and direct all correspondence to the Chairperson of your local Community Support Committee.
How it works

Please provide as much detail as possible on your application. Feel free to provide extra documents if needed.
After you apply
Community Support Committees typically meet throughout the first week of each month. A member of the Community Support Committee may reach out to you if they have any follow up questions.
Once your application has been reviewed, you will receive an email from Do Some Good letting you know whether or not your application has been successful.
What the fund supports
The Community Support Fund focuses on initiatives that strengthen our local communities and create opportunities for people to come together. It reflects the Community Support Committees’ mandate to support initiatives rooted in youth, education, and community.
What this fund is suitable for:
- Non‑profit, volunteer‑led, or school‑based initiatives
- Youth activities, teams, and programs
- Inclusive community events open to the public
- Fundraisers that benefit the wider community
- Sponsorships that offer meaningful community visibility for BVCU
What this fund is not suitable for:
- Requests that benefit individuals (e.g., personal travel or fees)
- For‑profit business requests without clear community impact
- Political or partisan activities
- Research projects or studies
- Wages, salaries, or honorariums
- Retroactive funding for completed events
- Improvements to private property or purchases without community purpose

If your project involves capital improvements, infrastructure, or long‑term community impact, you may be a better fit for our Community Patronage Fund. It supports larger initiatives that create lasting benefits across our region.
